COUNTERFEIT MONOBIND TEST KITS
Advisory issued to distributors and end-users, beware of false, poor quality products bearing Monobind name they are not authentic.
LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA - March 12, 2007 - Monobind has discovered several counterfeit immunoassay kits bearing the Monobind name and address have been sold and distributed in regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Counterfeit kits look different
These kits generally appear different than authentic Monobind product and detect analytes that Monobind does not currently produce or market. For instance, some of the counterfeit kits are packaged in chipboard boxes. Authentic Monobind kits are generally packaged in white, molded plastic boxes and include high quality "Nalgene" brand vials, or equivalent plastics. All authentic Monobind product vials are ink jetted on the bottom with a unique lot number, and include colored caps that are ink jetted on the top to identify each product component. This practice is supported by Monobind's state-of-the-art automated dispensing line and quality engineered product.
Infectious disease products we do not manufacture
Many of the counterfeit kits are marked to detect infectious diseases, such as HIV, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) and Tuberculosis. Do not be misled! Monobind does not manufacturer test kits for these diseases. At this time, the only infectious disease immunoassays made by Monobind are for Anti-H Pylori IgG, IgM and IgA. For a complete list of test kits currently manufactured by Monobind, please visit our website at www.monobind.com.
Poor quality
While counterfeit kits may appear similar to authentic Monobind products, the quality of the counterfeit kits is generally poor and the performance of the kits is unreliable. Accordingly, use of these counterfeit kits is not recommended and should in no way be regarded as Monobind.
Abnormal sales conditions
To avoid purchasing counterfeit kits, in addition to the look of the product, there are several tell-tale signs of counterfeit kits which should put a purchaser on notice of a possible fraud. Usually the price of the counterfeit kits is significantly lower than the authentic product, when there are abnormal sales conditions compared with the usual commercial practices, and claims of product performance which are inconsistent with the manufacturer's catalog. Additionally, the party who sold or markets the kits is not an authorized distributor of Monobind which may be confirmed by Monobind.
Serious crime & actions you can take
Counterfeiting is illegal and in some circumstances may result in incarceration. Currently, Monobind is cooperating with various governmental authorities to locate and prosecute the manufacturers of these counterfeit kits. If you suspect that you have purchased a counterfeit kit, or found one in your market, Monobind requests that you immediately discontinue use of the counterfeit and contact Monobind so that we can verify the authenticity of the product. Any information you can provide on the vendor of the product is requested.
